1) Introduce yourself!
Hi! My name is ZainZui. I'm a hobbyist who draws during my free time. I mostly work with paper and pen but occasionally will use digital software. My art style is heavily influenced by Japanese manga and animation.
2) Why do you do what you do?
When I was young, I was very inspired by anime and manga. I tried to recreate them, and slowly, fell in love with drawing. Ever since, I have been drawing manga during my free time.
3) Who or what inspires you?
My inspiration comes from various channels such as manga, animation, video games and novels. Some notable manga artists that have influenced my style are Matsui Yusei, Kubo Tite, Clamp and Ohtaka Shinobu.
4) How is your experience being a creator in Singapore?
My experience of being a creator is quite limited. I create and post mostly on Instagram, but I might try out more avenues in future.
5) What do you wish would happen in Singapore to help creators?
May there be more and more people interested in manga and novel culture, just like more Singaporeans are starting to watch Korean and Chinese period dramas.
6) What are your goals?
My goal is being able to translate whatever is in my brain onto paper and let people understand what I'm saying.
7) Where can people find and support you?
You can find my random doodles on Instagram (@zainzui), and if you wish to support my art journey, do visit my Ko-Fi account.
8) Give a shoutout to other local creators!
Big shoutout to The Super Secret Book for having me on this interview series. Thank you for having me here!
