Rainn (@rainnd33r) - Super Special Interview #16

1) Introduce yourself!

HELLOOOOOO! My name is Rainn, a little deer venturing into the art world in the hopes of being an Artist! I mainly draw digitally, but I occasionally create artworks using traditional media too. I am currently still a confused student in school struggling to find my path in life HAHAHA. I also love a good book, upbeat music, and am an avid gamer. (≧▽≦)

2) Why do you do what you do?

I've been drawing for as long as I can remember, my parents even sent me for art classes when I was a kid to keep me entertained. Eventually, it became a way for me to release my stress, as well as tell stories and create fantasy into reality. Of course, there are times when I just can't get my creative juices flowing, but I still go back to doing art somehow anyway. It's just a creative output for me that comes naturally I guess HAHAHA

3) Who or what inspires you?

Comics, Manga, Webtoon, even Games! I'm always awed by the different styles, different forms of expression, even the stories they tell. They really open my eyes to so much creative flow. @par0llel (instagram.com/par0llel) is one of the artists I greatly looked up to since I started posting my art on Instagram. Their art style, creativity and dedication to their craft is just so inspiring to me, motivating me to constantly hone my craft and keep improving.

My secondary school art teacher is also one of my greatest life inspirations. Having taught me art throughout the 4 years of my secondary school journey, she constantly reminded me to push myself out of my comfort zone and enjoy the process even if it is the most difficult thing I have done in my life. If it wasn't for her motivation, I wouldn't have wanted to challenge myself to be the greatest artist I'll ever be. Of course, I also draw inspiration from my everyday life and experiences too.

4) How is your experience being a creator in Singapore?

I haven't been very in touch with the art scene in Singapore much, but from the little experience I had, it's amazing to see just how many creative people exist in a place where generally STEM industries are favoured more. I've met many wonderful creators online, and even made friends in communities like in the former Singapore Artist's Society!! Overall, it's been great, and I hope I get to interact with more people and join more events in the future.

5) What do you wish would happen in Singapore to help creators?

I think having more coverage on the creative industry in Singapore would be great to recognise local talent, be it big or small.

6) What are your goals?

Currently, I want to continue to improve my skills as an artist, and eventually write and illustrate a Webtoon or something similar. In the long run, I would like to booth at conventions to sell my own creations!

7) Where can people find and support you?

I go by the username @rainnd33r on all social platforms, you can find all my socials consolidated here: linktr.ee/rainnd33r These days I am most active on Twitch, Instagram, and Twitter. If anyone wants to hang out and chill with me, I stream drawing and games on Twitch when I'm able to!

8) Anything else you want to share?

To anyone who is scared of pursuing their dreams, don't be scared and take that leap of faith before you regret in the future. It doesn't hurt to chase that little bit of happiness in life. Even if it comes with hardships, the happiness you gain from doing what you love is

precious.

9) Give a shoutout to other SG creators!
