Nadrah (Raineyellow) - Super Secret Interview #4
1) Introduce yourself!
Name’s Nadrah Insyirah but I am also called Raineyellow online. I consider myself a small comic creator.
2) Why do you do what you do?
It is the most common cliché reason, fulfilling my childhood dream of being a comic artist.
3) Who or what inspires you?
Evacomics. I have idolised her since I was in Secondary School. The funny thing is I was too broke to buy her comic book. I only had $2 in my wallet when I arrived at her booth. Felt bad, honestly. Surprisingly, she did not mind it when I bought her bookmark (which cost $2, I think) and she even signed it. I pasted it on my wall ever since, and it has stayed there till now.
4) How is your experience being a creator in Singapore?
The realistic answer is... Not great. It is hard to get noticed by the locals especially when I focus on making original content. What’s more, is that I have experienced some negative encounters when putting my work out there that made me go into hiatus for a year and a half. Now, I am back after an opportunity was given to me which I am very thankful for.
5) What do you wish would happen in Singapore to help creators?
Committed and concrete initiatives from locals who strive to bring out local comics in Singapore. Then maybe for years to come, people will start to know the names of local comic creators.
6) What are your goals?
Be famous, and for people around the world to like the work I put out.
7) Where can people find and support you?
Follow me on Instagram @raineyellow. Feel free to befriend me on Discord at Raineyellow #6853 but be sure to introduce yourself first. That’s important.
8) Anything else you want to share?
If you like playing silly dating simulators, you can download the Kocho app and play "Arcana Romance". It is free and I mostly made it by myself.
9) Give a shoutout to other local creators!
You know Sabdrawsart? She’s a talented homie. She is a streamer on Theta.tv. Tian En? Talented writer. His books are up on Amazon Kindle for a cheap price.
