Elizabeth (elizabeththesevere) - Super Special Interview #9
Updated: 2 days ago
1) Introduce yourself!
Hi all, I am Elizabeth, and my artist moniker is Elizabeth The Severe. I am an artist-illustrator in Singapore.
2) Why do you do what you do?
I have always been interested in creating since forever, and I guess I just never stopped drawing since I was a little kid.
3) Who or what inspires you?
I am inspired by the Pre-Raphaelite muses and pop-culture, and I love creating that juxtaposition where classical and modern culture collide. Also, some artists I really look up to is James Jean and Babs Tarr.
4) How is your experience being a creator in Singapore?
It has been fun! I have been shamelessly putting myself out there to connect with people, and it is very heartening when meeting people who enjoys the art I put out, especially since I do a lot of self-indulgent art haha.
5) What do you wish would happen in Singapore to help creators?
I think it will be nice if more Singaporeans show support to their local talents before they become popular internationally haha.
6) What are your goals?
I’m just going to put this out there so it manifests - I would love love love to do a collaboration with a luxury brand. It has also been a dream of mine since forever to do a cover for DC Comics. I also dream of a day that my art sustains me financially so I can do it full time.
7) Where can people find and support you?
8) Anything else you want to share?
I used to be a funeral director for awhile and what I’ve really realised from that job is that life is short and unpredictable, so everyone should remember to do more of what makes them happy.
9) Give a shoutout to other local creators!
